Leather Protectors Type 156-6

WH Salisbury Leather Protectors Type 156-6

A heavy-duty, cow-hide leather “over-gloves” designed to be worn over insulating rubber gloves. Their primary purpose is to provide mechanical protection, against cuts, abrasions, punctures, and wear, for the underlying insulating gloves when working on electrical installations, overhead lines, or other utility tasks.

These protectors are a standard accessory for electrical linemen, utility workers, and maintenance crews, forming a critical part of the PPE suite when dealing with live or potentially live electrical equipment.

  • Leather protectors to be worn over rubber gloves.
  • Use same size as rubber gloves.

Intended Use & Applications

  • Worn over insulating rubber gloves during live-line work, maintenance, installation, or repair tasks, especially where mechanical risk exists (e.g. sharp conductors, metal hardware, tools).
  • In utility, substation, overhead-line, or industrial environments, whenever insulating gloves are used for electrical safety but need extra mechanical protection.
  • For tasks that combine electrical and mechanical hazards (e.g. stringing conductors, securing fittings, using tools, working around rough metal surfaces), where standard rubber gloves alone may be vulnerable.
  • As part of a full PPE kit, together with insulated gloves, sleeves, clothing, and other arc-flash / electrical safety equipment, to ensure worker safety.
